Set your gaze upon Victoria Falls, the largest falls in the world. The waterfall is named in honor of Queen Victoria of Britain by a Scottish missionary, who perceived his discovery only as an obstacle to his preaching of Christianity to the whole of the African continent. Also called Mosi-oa-Tunya, "the smoke that thunders," by the local people, the falls extend 1,708 m (5,604 ft) across and 108 m (354 ft) in height. See the columns of spray from miles away plunging to the gorge below. To reach the falls you have to trek a road through the forest, so wear appropriate shoes. Victoria Falls reviews
The trails wind around and provide extensive views of all the incredible falls with rainbows and mist. Just beautiful! more »
We visited in September and rain gear was not available, but due to the dry season it was not needed. The Falls are absolutely gorgeous and the park is well taken care of. There is a small... more »
Beautiful place. A place to be! It was nice to see the water flowing again after the dry spell last year especially in November. The knife bridge was an awesome experience, well this time I gathered the courage to walk through it. The beautiful rainbow on the other side. The monkeys too. Had a lovely experience.
We visited the Falls on February 14th 2020. We were very impressed by the volume of water that was flowing at great speed. Even the mist that was spraying was very high and fresh. My advice to you is to carry umbrellas and a raincoat if you are exploring it on foot. Any reports that you read or saw about the Falls drying up is FALSE! You can see the Falls in all it's natural glory everyday. Furthermore you are guaranteed to see a rainbow at least once and sometimes you are lucky enough to see double rainbows! We were drenched to the skin but the experience was like none other as this is really magical and fantastic. Wear shoes that are not slippery. Like a wet socks or aqua socks. Long pants to avoid critters biting you and sunglasses to avoid the glare of sun. There are 16 points to view from and take photos from. So make sure you carry your camera or cell phone and have enough battery life, otherwise carry a spare battery and protect your phone from the water sprays because the water can damage it and it won't work.
