More than 20 million people call Cairo their home and, as soon as you set foot in the sprawling metropolis, it's evident they make it crowded and chaotic, but also exuberant and charming.
Get a sense of the local culture at Mosque of Muhammad Ali and Step Pyramid of Djoser. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Khan Al-Khalili and Ramses Wissa Wassef Art Centre. Venture out of the city with trips to Giza (Musee de la Barque Solaire, Pyramids of Giza, &more). There's lots more to do: see the interesting displays at The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Hanging Church (El Muallaqa, Sitt Mariam, St Mary), see exotic creatures in open habitats at a safari tour, and admire the landmark architecture of Cairo Citadel.

To see maps, ratings, reviews, and other tourist information, refer to the Cairo road trip planning website.

Use the Route module to find suitable travel options from your home destination to Cairo. In March, daily temperatures in Cairo can reach 29°C, while at night they dip to 17°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Alexandria.
