Situated between the Neris and Nemunas rivers, Kaunas is known for its old town, which, though smaller than the capital's, is in much better condition.
Your list of things to see and do now includes Kaunas Botanical Garden, National M. K. Ciurlionis Art Museum, Akropolis, and other attractions. Take a break from Kaunas with a short trip to Trakai Island Castle Museum in Trakai, about 1h 05 min away. There's still lots to do: explore the historical opulence of Kaunas Castle, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Pazaislis Monastery, and wander the streets of Old Town Kaunas.
