Jerusalem of Lithuania

The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, boasts an impressive medieval quarter--one of the continent's largest and a World Heritage Site with almost 2,000 historical buildings.
Step out of Vilnius with an excursion to Trakai Island Castle Museum in Trakai--about 36 minutes away. There's still lots to do: get engrossed in the history at Gediminas Castle Tower, take a stroll through Vilnius Old Town, take in the spiritual surroundings of Gate of Dawn, and take in nature's colorful creations at Bernardine Gardens.

Louisville, USA to Vilnius is an approximately 18-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 7 hours traveling from Louisville to Vilnius. Traveling from Louisville in May, things will get little chillier in Vilnius: highs are around 66°F and lows about 46°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.

Characterized by the majestic Baltic coastline and adjacent white sands, Lithuania boasts lush green forests, hidden lakes, and coastal wetlands. A nation with a turbulent history, Lithuania houses the remains of a former nuclear site and the remnants of defenses used to strengthen the frontier of the Tsarist empire. At the same time, it pays homage to its national heroes, honored in sculpture parks and museums throughout the country. Today, Lithuania boasts a thriving musical, cultural, and visual arts scene, hosting a range of festivals and concerts year-round.
