Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
On the 17th (Mon), make a trip to Pantheon, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Peter's Basilica, and then awaken your taste buds at some of the top wineries in the area. Keep things going the next day: admire the natural beauty at Villa d'Este and then contemplate the long history of Colosseum.

Often referred to as the gem of the Amalfi Coast, Positano remains one of southern Italy's most sought-after vacation locales, thanks to its hillside location and picturesque, pastel buildings.

You can drive from Rome to Positano in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In July in Positano, expect temperatures between 89°F during the day and 72°F at night. On the 19th (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can ride a ferry to Capri.

The island of Capri encompasses all the magical allure of the Mediterranean--dramatic blue waters, lush mountainous landscape, and picturesque island villages.
On the 19th (Wed), take in the dramatic natural features at Blue Grotto and then catch all the local highlights with Monte Solaro Chairlift. On the next day, don't miss a visit to Via Camerelle, take in the dramatic natural features at I Faraglioni, Head underground at White Grotta, then take a memorable drive along Via Krupp, then get great views at Belvedere Cannone, and finally take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Monte Solaro.

Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Doges' Palace and Ponte di Rialto. Step out of Venice with an excursion to Sand Nativity in Jesolo--about 46 minutes away. There's much more to do: explore the activities along Canal Grande, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Santa Maria dei Miracoli, wander the streets of Campo del Ghetto, and contemplate the long history of Ponte dei Sospiri.

You can do a combination of ferry and flight from Capri to Venice in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. When traveling from Capri in July, plan for slightly colder days in Venice, with highs around 83°F, while nights are about the same with lows around 68°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 25th (Tue) early enough to travel to Barcelona.
