Monkey Hill, Phuket Town

4.2
#1 of 16 in Parks in Phuket Town
Nature / Park · Hidden Gem · Wildlife Area
Meet the macaques at Monkey Hill, one of the tallest hills in town. Shortly after you start walking up the hill, you will meet group of monkeys looking for food. Feel free to hand them fruit, but if you want to keep snacks to yourself, be sure to keep your food hidden in your pockets or bags. Climb to the viewpoint and watch for fantastic sights of the city, however, keep in mind that the road closes to traffic at 5:00 p.m.; after that time you can only walk up to see the sunset. • Unforgettable experience. I feed the free monkeys with fresh fruits, a lovely place to make pictures but also to get how those monkeys live “free”  more »
  • I read the reviews here, and to be honest some are perhaps exaggerating a little. I was quite apprehensive to come here on my own once I had the reviews, obviously everyone's reviews are their own...  more »

  • We headed to the hill in a cab and was dropped off where we could only continue on foot. The walk to the top is an experience on it’s own. It’s nonstop laughter seeing monkeys being themselves and stealing from each other. People bring treats for the monkeys, bananas and peanuts usually, and have to be careful while feeding because the monkeys jump on people and try to take their belongings. The view from the top is phenomenal but it’s a walk so come prepared in walking sneakers.
  • One girl got bitten by a monkey literally 30 seconds after our arrival, blood was flowing down her arm. The genius parents were just standing there googling what to do and in the meantime a group of monkeys was trying to scratch and bite their little son. Bonkers. If monkeys didn't carry diseases it would be cool to observe them but they do (heed the graphic information at the entrance) so it's definitely not worth it.
