Cheetah's Rock, Zanzibar Island

4.8
Interact with a cheetah, watch the feeding of a white lion, and shake

hands with ring-tailed lemurs at Cheetah's Rock, an animal sanctuary on

the east coast designed for close interaction with visitors. Run by a

licensed animal trainer, this establishment keeps rescued or donated

animals, making them available for a close-up view and personal

interaction in many cases. Highlights include rare striped hyenas, a

football-playing zebra, and young cheetah brothers received from a

CITES accredited conservation center. The place does not accept visitors

under 15, and you are advised not to wear any overpowering perfume or

aftershave that could irritate the animals. Reserve your place in advance

due to the attraction's popularity. Work out when and for how long to visit Cheetah's Rock and other Zanzibar Island attractions using our handy Zanzibar Island road trip website .

  • What is done here for the animals and the preservation of species is highly commendable. The experience with a White Lion and 2 cheetahs in an enclosure to be is probably unique. With small lion I know from South Africa. As close to experiencing the Bushbabies also is very funny. The White Lion is Abhay very impressive and also the silver Tiger is very beautiful. My wife is thrilled by the hyenas. The site is very large and the animals have quite a lot of space. What us attending something disturbed has, is that the tone and language of the owner and their employees is quite rough. Not any of the visitors speak perfect English and can not follow some announcements as they were made. It is a beautiful and safe place for the animals. For the people of less.

  • Awesome experience. All the animals are in perfect condition, and most important they all look happy and love their 'owners'. You really learn a lot about the animal's lifestyle and care through the tour, and also hear the sad stories behind these rescued animals. For the people who love wild life and animals on general this is the perfect place to visit!
  • Incredible once in a life time experience ! Worth every penny! I would recommend this to everyone.
