Grand Anse, La Digue Island

4.7
#2 of 31 in Things to do in La Digue Island
Beach · Nature / Park
Lying on the southeast coast of the island, Grand Anse appeals with its wild and remote surroundings--a contrast to some of its more accessible neighbors. As the island's longest beach, it offers plenty of space to find a quiet spot in which to bask in the sun, looking out across the bright hues of the water. Bring plenty of refreshments and ideally some shade, due to the lack of facilities. Strong currents during monsoon season (April through October) can make swimming here dangerous, so be careful and pay attention to the warning signs. Grand Anse is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , world travel planner Edition.

  • Easy access by bike. Lots of waves, white soft sand. Beautiful beaches on La Digue and this is one of the easiest to get to.  more »
  • Almost deserted when we arrived. Fantastic beach and quite clean. The tidal swamp combined with the granite rocks, pristine blue-teal waters, white sands and lush tropical flora can be almost unreal.  more »

  • At this beach, swimming is not allowed because of the huge waves. My recommendation is to come with a book and listen to the waves.
  • Simply beautiful.
