An ideal base camp for exploring the Aegean coastline, Selcuk draws big tourist crowds due to its proximity to the ancient city of Ephesus.
Ancient City of Ephesus and Efes Antik Kenti Tiyatrosu are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get some historical perspective at Celsus Kutuphanesi and Efes Antique City. And it doesn't end there: delve into the distant past at The Terrace Houses, take in the spiritual surroundings of Meryemana (The Virgin Mary's House), step into the grandiose world of Keci Kalesi, and contemplate the long history of Public Latrine.

Famed for its landscape of unusually shaped stone formations and churches cut into the natural rocks, Goreme sits in the central part of the country, an area originally settled during Roman times.
Get outdoors at Goreme National Park and Uchisar Castle. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Alaturca Carpet and Sultan Carpet. Next up on the itinerary: explore the fascinating underground world of Cappadocia Cave Dwellings, enjoy unforgettable views with a balloon tour, get engrossed in the history at Goreme Open-Air Museum, and stop by Sultans Ceramic.

Getting from Selcuk to Goreme by combination of train and flight takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Selcuk in March, Goreme is a bit cooler at night with lows of 2°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel to Istanbul.

A physical and cultural bridge between Europe and Asia, the transcontinental city of Istanbul serves as a living reminder of the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires.
