The selection of material is as broad as possible. It ranges from academic to entertainment material. Books, DVDs, CDs, posters, photos, and artwork is welcome if the creator happens to be Jewish. The library also functions as an English as second language library, but material in all kinds of languages is needed. Books, CDs, DVDs, artwork and other material from people who are not Jewish is also welcome as long as there is some Jewish connection. For example, a DVD by a gentile director starring a Jew is wanted. The same if a gentile author writes a history of Israel.Put Vilnius Jewish Library on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Vilnius trip builder site.
To promote understanding, the library needs to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. I want Jews and Catholics and people of every faith or no faith at all to enter the library. That is why there are books written by any author who is Jewish, along with books by gentiles. There will be thousands of DVDs, with the only criteria being is the director Jewish or the main star Jewish, or based on a book or story by an author who is Jewish. The music collection will cover everything from Barbra Streisand to Klezmer to KISS and the Beastie Boys. The more that the library can offer means the more people who will walk through the doors.
I was diagnosed with an incurable lung disease in 2016. I have emphysema which is currently at stage two out of four. I never smoked, but was exposed to secondhand smoke daily as a child. I want to bulid up the library's collection as much as possible while I am still alive.
