This project is a real child of love; its idea firstly appeared long ago, when almost everyone seemed to run inside a huge spin cycle. Those days it looked like we all were running desperately and spent less time with our beloved and ourselves, and left even less time for our hobbies.

Now, when the entire world has slightly reduced the speed of running after a million, we have regained time like unexpected surprise. People have more time at their disposal to think about, and they want to get back to real values, among them – to fancywork, and traditions of fancywork, especially knitting, now survive their rebirth.

Latvia can be proud with ancient and deep traditions of applied arts. Most Latvian women can knit and crochet, and enjoy doing it.

Still we would like to offer a different look to fancywork, like to stylish and modern hobby! Fancywork is not only a way to make beautiful things, but also a special way of meditation.

Time of puffed-up brands now is over; the era of rationality and pragmatism has come. People are tending to choose quality to serve them long. Knitwear made of high quality yarns is the right choice. Besides, these garments are modern and unique – each knit work is different!

You can use yarns in endless number of ways, so we are offering to perceive knitting as art. Can anyone give another name to sophisticated transformations of a straight yarn? This art can be easily taught and opens its mystic to artist gradually.

We invite both experienced masters and beginners. We are calling those who have already forgotten how to knit; those who want to be satisfied when many people appreciate his/her work. Moreover, we will be happy to meet those who do not knit, but wants to wear knitted garments. You can place your order here! We want to involve anyone – regardless of his or her age or sex!

We offer joy and inspiration in different knitting events, membership in activities organized by knitters’ club, trainings, great yarns and knitting appliances, and opportunity to sell your ready projects.

Now fancywork is not just a hobby, but also a way to help others. We would like to devote a part of our work to charity and we together can make it!

We hope that uzadi.lv will become your helper and mood riser!

  • I am a big fan of the book "Knit like a Latvian". I felt as though I walked in the author's workshop. I could have bought so much more yarn!!
  • A lovely pictoresque wool workshop with a variety of original homemade knitted souvenirs and more local products. You can buy a nice knitting kit with original Latvian wool.
