  • Two words - JUST GO! The best 3 € I’ve ever spent. This Basilica runs a close second next to San Marco. It’s rather simple exterior belies the beauty of the priceless art inside. We were 2 of less than a couple of dozen people inside at 10am on a Saturday morning. St. Mark’s on the other hand had throngs! If crowds aren’t your thing and you’d like to see one of Italy’s most important Franciscan sites, it’s a 5 minute walk from the San Toma vaporetto stop.
  • This was my third visit to this basilica. I always listen to the free Rick Steves audio tour. Excellent. There is something truly unique and wonderful about seeing art where it was intended. That coupled with the unique and historically significant pieces cinch it for me. Well worth the time and visit!
