  • In Via del Banco di Santo Spirito, located in the V (Ponte) district is the imposing façade of the Banco di Santo Spirito, built at the beginning of the SIXTEENTH century. The lower part is completely ashlar and is characterized by a large portal, the upper part is tripartite, through four pilasters, whose central frame a niche, while on the two outer sides there are two large windows for each part. In the niche there is an inscription in Latin: A SEMP MEM PAULO V ERECTAM HAS IN AEDES A CLEM VII MEDICE CUDENDIS NUMMIS DESTINATAS AB ALEXANDRO VII NOVA STRUCTIONE MUNITAS CLEMENS IX PONT MAX FELICIBUS AUSPICIIS THE STABLE YEAR DOMAINS MDCLXVII " That in Italian means, that in 1867, Pope Clement IX, had the bench of Santo Spirito transported here. Above the inscription is the coat of arms of the "Banco di Santo Sspirito" In the upper part of the niche there is a leonine protome. The upper part of the façade is crowned by an imposing coat of arms by Paolo V supported by two volutes and adorned with floral garlands, completing the top of the building, two large statues placed on the sides.
