  • Felice Cavallotti, politician, literate, Garibaldino, journalist born in Milan in 1842 was a deputy left opponent of Crispi. Skilled Skirmisher in his life fought thirty three duels without ever killing any opponent. His was a reckless life that ended in Rome in 1898 with death in a duel killed by Count Ferruccio Macola Director of the Gazette of Venice following an argument. Giosuè Carducci, at the time of the death of the Cavallotti, pronounced a funeral discourse full of passion at the University of Bologna. Filippo Turati commemorated him with a speech at the cemetery in Milan where the coffin stopped before being transported to Dagnente on Lake Maggiore. Felice Cavallotti is one of the few illustrious politicians to whom the city of Paris has dedicated a way. The monument dedicated to the Cavallotti is by the sculptor Ernesto Bazzaro, inaugurated in 1906, depicting the Spartan warrior Leonidas who fought his battle for the honor and freedom of his homeland against the Persian army at the pass of Thermopylae going Meeting to certain death. At the base of the monument Bas-reliefs depicting episodes of the life of the Cavallotti. Initially the monument was placed on the Piazza Pio XI to be then stored in the warehouses of the city of Milan and finally be placed in Via Marina next to the Senate building.
