Basilica di Santo Stefano Maggiore, Milan

3.2
Featuring a distinctly Baroque facade, Basilica di Santo Stefano Maggiore stands on the site of a much earlier religious building. Originally constructed in the 5th century and considerably expanded and improved over the years, the structure features an imposing bell tower and lofty interior. Though often overlooked by visitors, the church has seen its share of dramatic events over the centuries. One of the most notable moments in Milan's history occurred here in 1476, when three high-ranking city officials assassinated the famously tyrannical Duke Galeazzo Maria Sforza. • I enjoyed the church but my wife was creeped out by it. Up to the individual's taste.
  • It is definitely one of the hidden gems Milan possesses. I was absolutely stunned by the beauty of the paintings and works of art in the church. It is literally right next to the Santuario Di S. Bernardino Alle Ossa, so please go take a look!! I can't believe how little reviews this beautiful church has on Google map :)
