Saint Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin

4.2
The resting place of writer Jonathan Swift, Saint Patrick's Cathedral represents the largest church in Ireland. Over a thousand years old, this imposing Gothic structure features a 43 m (140 ft) tall spire, one of the city's major architectural landmarks. Built in honor of Ireland's patron saint, the building stands next to an old well allegedly used by Saint Patrick to baptize converts to Christianity. Pay the small fee to sightsee inside the historical cathedral, which contains fine examples of medieval stained glass and a 4,000-pipe organ, one of Ireland's largest. Check online for a downloadable audio guide and a schedule of daily services, guided tours, and special events. • I had heard so much about Saint Patrick's Cathedral I was interested in going. When we got there, there was a 45 minute wait for the next tour, so we did our own self-guided tour. The Cathedral is mor...  more »
  • I recommend visiting art lovers and not. It is a very special place and deserves a visit with audio guide; Moreover, the price is not excessive. Be careful not to go late in the morning, you could make a lot of queue! Once I go out I recommend a tour of the Marsh Library, one of the strangest and most spectacular libraries after the Trinity Library!

  • Beautiful Cathedral in Central Dublin. There are regular free events here including organ concerts. Worth going to hear the amazing pipe organ. Its like the organist is playing the building itself. The often have a screen so you can see the organist's hands as they play. Check out the beautiful park beside the Cathedral while you're here.
  • Wow, just amazing. Founded in 1191, 43 meter spire. Spectacular amazing work of Irish History and Art. I was blessed to be able to have the chance to visit this site from Los Angeles, United States of America. This really made my trip. So beautifully detailed. I can only image the craftsman ship that went into building one of the most beautiful cathedrals I have seen in all of my travels. I am simply in awe.
