Bunratty Castle & Folk Park Reviews
Spent almost a whole day @Bunratty. We started with the castle. While almost none of it is original, it has been restored to show what life would have been like. There are lots of stairs, nooks/cranni... more »

Also, when you arrive, you are greeted by the guides dressed in period dresses, and you can see how it was decorated and structured, which takes you to 1425, when it was built. The views from the tower are spectacular. And then you can stroll through Folk Park, which recreates life in a 19th-century Irish village, through 30 royal buildings, which have been moved there stone by stone, from other locations in the country. Thus, you can see the school, with segregated classes for boys and girls, the church, the mill, the doctor's office, with your house on the top floor; the post office, the pub, a farm, houses belonging to different social strata,.. The visit is simply a delight.
Bunratty Castle was a very nice attraction. I can see the reason it's said that this is the most authentic castle in Ireland. It's really more like a little village. The castle is great to explore, but get there early so you don't have to wait in line too long to go up and down the stairs inside the castle. Make sure you make it to the library at the top. The ceiling is amazing.
We were not aware of just how expansive this site was until we started exploring. The castle is just the tip of the iceberg. There are plenty of buildings and gardens to explore and enjoy. The staff of the castle were very informative with the history of the castle and the various furnishings within. I'm glad we chose this as our first stop out of the airport. We ended up spending nearly 3 hours here.
