What remains standing today of Temple of Olympian Zeus serves as a testament to the grandeur of ancient Greek architecture. Built over several years and completed in 456 BCE, the temple was dedicated to Zeus, the king of the Olympian gods. Badly damaged by both fire and earthquakes, much of the temple is in ruins, but some columns still stand. At 10.5 m tall (34.4 ft) and 2.25 m (7.4 ft) in diameter, the columns were built of local limestone and covered in white stucco. Admission is included in the ticket to the nearby Acropolis. Temple of Olympian Zeus Reviews
Храм Зевса в Афинах почти не сохранился: стоят только несколько колонн. Он находится недалеко от Акрополя. Он оттуда хорошо виден. Посетить же его можно при посещении древнегреческого стадиона Панатин... more »The temple of the city in Athens is almost not preserved: there are only a few columns. It is close to the Acropolis. It's clearly visible from there. You can visit it when visiting the ancient Greek stadium Panathinaikos - they are located nearby. I recommend visiting.
Quel dommage qu'il ne reste pas plus de colonnes sur ce site. On rêve de ce que pouvait être ce temple et on regrette qu'il n'en reste pas plus. Tant que vous êtes ici prolongez la balade jusqu'au sta... more »What a pity that there are no more columns left on this site. We dream of what this temple could be and we regret that there are no more. As long as you're here extend the ride to the stadium!
So I could see this site really well from outside the fence and saved myself a good 24 euros. Absolutely no need to pay to see it. It’s really interesting looking, The site by itself is huge, reflecting how big and important the temple was, but only a few columns are left of it. Not much information provided, you don’t need a lot of time to see this site
A very beautiful place with an amazing view and a historical background, make sure to read about the place before going to enjoy it to the maw, if you can afford a guide your experience will be much much more interesting ! Take photos but also rest to contemplate the historical signs on the rocks ... If you're going in summer make sure to bring water and a hat with you i know it seems obvious but you'll be surprised how easy it is to forget. The bus or the metro or even the tram will leave you near the place, there's an entrance fee so be prepared for that,
