Neues Palais, Potsdam

#4 of 21 in Historic Sites in Potsdam
Historic Site · Landmark
The last great Prussian Baroque palace, Neues Palais was a royal playground complete with a theater and several stunning rooms, including Grotto Hall, where the walls are encrusted with marble, quartz, seashells, and stones. The theater is still in use on the second floor, but before you attend a performance, tour the maze of rooms. Your ticket includes access to four grand staterooms, royal apartments, and a tour of the theater. A performance will require a separate ticket. Take advantage of good weather by walking the palace grounds with the Comuns, which housed the servants and the kitchen, and a park where statuary, fountains, and pathways break through the greenery. • The sad part is that I could not marvel at the interior. Only the exterior I marveled at. I will be back.  more »
  • The Neues Palais is now the parliament of Brandenburg. The exterior is beautifully restored and woth a visit  more »
  • Nice place. Great statues and quiet. Plenty of room for kids to run but not sure it's right to do here, out of respect. Buildings from around 1737 and later. Impressive place. Id give 5 stars if there were plaques or brochure to explain what we're looking at. Nice place for a quick geocaching adventure ;)
  • Potentially Interesting place that was closed Outside, the palace looks monumental and pretty. I am not a special lover of this style, but I openly admit that he is beautiful. However, the positive impression for me ends here, as I did not get inside: Our family bought a common ticket for all places in the park and they told that some will be closed, both outside and inside the park because of the different days of work. In other words, part of the attractions work on one day, and part on the other, but that expensive ticket that you buy for that particular day to all places at once. And this, instead of doing everything on the same day in at least for one place like this huge park... Just "brilliant" level of organization.
