Louvre Museum, Paris

4.6
#1 of 3,139 in Museums in France
With an impressive collection of 30,000 pieces, it's nearly impossible to see all of Louvre Museum. The three "Great Ladies,” Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace, and Mona Lisa, may be the museum’s most well-known attractions. The Michelangelo gallery is just one of 30-plus galleries, each with a theme, such as bronze. Masterpieces aren't the only pieces that stand out. Religious artifacts include a fragment of the Egyptian Book of the Dead on papyrus. Even more impressive is the Code of Hammurabi from the Mesopotamian civilization. English-language tours are available on several days, but you need advance registration. Join a city museum tour or order tickets in advance so you won't wait in a long line to gain entry. • Would highly recommend hiring a tour guide unless you have several days to see the works of art. Huge museum with long long lines. We saw highlights, didn't have to worry about where we were...  more »
  • Make sure you buy your tickets online ahead of time to save yourself a long wait to get in. Plan on spending several hours here as there is so much to see. Stunning art and sculptures.  more »

  • It’s indeed a beautiful place. Highly recommended to visit this after Eiffel Tower. Again it’s beautiful in day as well as in night. The whole area is good. If you are interested then you can buy a ticket and have a look inside the museum. I didn’t so I’ve no idea about it. But I’m sure it would be worth. The queue is quite long though. As soon as you step out of the area of museum you can view a very beautiful view of Paris. Museum is basically left side of Paris ( if I’m not wrong, correct if I’m ). You can go to right side of Paris by just crossing a beautiful bridge. Although I asked a local book seller according to him he said left side of Paris is more beautiful and there are many places to see on the left side. My suggestion just walk around the place for the while you can see many beautiful things around. Paris has a rice culture. Totally worth.
  • Amazing museum! One of the best in the world. We walked in the museum for four hours straight and still couldn’t cover half of it. Everything is laid out so well. Don’t be afraid of the big crowd outside waiting to get in. The museum is so big that once you’re inside it is not crowded at all. (Except in the highlight area like Mona Lisa and Venus statue) I highly recommend everyone to enter the museum. It is going to be worth your time.
