Walk in the footsteps of ancient Egyptians at Luxor Temple, a World Heritage Site constructed some time around 1400 BCE. The large sandstone temples, granite monoliths, and giant colossi were designed to celebrate the idea of pharaohs as kings and gods, rather than any particular god or individual pharaoh. As you pass through the vast site, notice the different additions made by non-Egyptian civilizations--special highlights include Roman murals and a mosque. Put Luxor Temple into our Luxor trip planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

About this magical, indescribable flavor of the pearls of the Nile - the most ancient Luxor. The smell of freshly made pastries and grilled meats, a refreshing whiff of the Nile. Open, welcoming and friendly Arab people of Egypt. And of course, horse carts. Fantastic horse carts of various sizes, sizes, colors, styles and suits. Goodbye Luxor. I will miss you...

Beautiful temple, the entrance is superb, once inside the temple it is wonderful to walk among the columns, hieroglyphics are staggering and the height of the colonnade is impressive. Unfortunately there is an area plenty of thrush and it seemed none was concerned about. Anyway the place is wonderful, none should miss it.
